To Local Resident and TenantsPerhaps this is a letter that
you have already seen. Unfortunately, it appears that the majority of residents
and tenants who live around Wardlow field here in Huntington Beach, CA did not.
Basically, it comes down to this. The Fountain Valley School District is short of
funds and are planning on shutting down this field in order to build new
housing. The intent is to increase revenue through property taxes. Perhaps what
they should consider is cutting expenses like so many of
us
have to.
Here's a link to the original letter from the School District so you can form your own opinion: Appear at the District Hearing Next Week It really comes down to this. Either we use it or lose it. If the Fountain Valley School District sells this field, the kids LOSE. Do your part. You can be proud that you did. See you at the Public Hearing on January 19, 2005. Here's the details: Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 7:00 PM District Office Board Room 17210 Oak Street Fountain Valley, CA Here's a link to a map so you can find the District Office easily: Who would be affected by this? Well, the answer clearly would be everyone!! Here's a short list: Huntington Valley Little League, AYSO Soccer League, the Boys & Girls Club of Huntington Valley and HeadStart to name just a few. I'm sure there are many others. If you can supply me a list of groups that would be displaced besides our community kids, please email me here: alan@saveourfield.org and I will post. We need to keep track of all the things that we will miss. Form a Photo Collage We'd like to post a photo collage where everyone can see what a great field this has been. This will further cement in our minds how important it is that Wardlow Field remain available to the community. Please send scanned images of your photos. I will retouch and crop if necessary so don't worry about quality. Please send your pictures of Inspiration Field so that I can keep them organized. Send all pics to: alan@saveourfield.org. What can you do?! There are a few things that need to happen over the next few months. First of all, everyone needs to know that this is happening. Only a select few residents apparently are aware. The general population is not being fully informed. Keep an eye on this web site. There will be a flyer here that you can download and distribute so that everyone knows what's going on. If you can provide legwork to distribute that's great. If you can design a flyer, that's great too. If you can help with the legal battle, that's awesome. At any rate, please email me with your info and what you would like to help with to alan@saveourfield.org. Join the Mailing List In order to stay informed as time goes on, join the mailing list. Send me an email and I will add you. As new updates occur and new hearing are scheduled, I will email everyone. Same address: alan@saveourfield.or g. Posted: Tue - January 4, 2005 at 09:05 PM |
